Reflecting

Today, we played against VJC.

We lost, but we fought and played well. Apart from that, I realised some things more precious to be remembered and cherished: The support we got was humongous, a very very heartfelt thank you to all who made the trip specially to support us. It was a gesture that really moved us as a team and is a source of motivation for us all. Thank you so so much, from the bottom of my heart!

Thank you all who wrote/signed to wish us good luck, half the team cried because we were so touched! Thank you Tzelin, Limei and Steffi for the amazing encouragement :) 5C13, thank you for your smiles, luck and pats on the back, messages and IMs and the constant understanding :D

To ex-Dunmanians, those from TJC especially (and Poryeee!), you guys have always been cheering us on since U16, we really thank you for that, for remembering DHS :D To Yixian, Krystal and Serene, there is this special kind of feeling when I see you guys, like you all have never left the team before! And Eva you! Your encouragement is so affirming thank you!!!! I'm so glad Team-04 ever happened, that 2 years together has brought about a lifetime of friendship.

And after we lost, a stream of encouragement, praises and motivating messages came in and really really moved me (to tears). As I sit here and think, I realise that our level has bonded so much because of the A Division matches, be it soccer/basketball/volleyball/dragonboat. We realise that we're not a big school, nor do we have external talents, but we do have a strong spirit.

The soccer guys wished us good luck before the TPJC friendly, the basketball girls too, for our match today. And people who were only acquaintances would tell me good luck too! This kind of spirit, not an ostentatious kind like other JCs may have, is reminiscent of home, of a place where people can find comfort and warmth in. We are small, but we have strong bonds, something created from 4 years worth of togetherness, and 2 more years of schooling ahead.

Us, as the first A division team of DHS (Senior) has come a long way. Along the way, we met new people who believed and supported us until now, who strongly believes we can make it-- People like Marvin, his RJC team, Mr Tay (Mrs Tay), Mr Ng, Wanxin, Alliance members. Like Wanxin, she doesn't know us directly, but even she came down to support! Thank you Mr Teo, who came down to watch too, but was a tad too late haha.

I'm not really sure what this means, but I guess that us as a team has shown resilience and strength, that they see something in us, the potential, the spark, the passion. Mr Tay and Mr Ng has really put in their hearts and soul for us, and without them we wouldn't be here today. They have so much hopes for us, because they see themselves in us and would want us to walk away, feeling for the game, gaining from it.

And for the school, I guess they saw our hard work and our dedication, our late nights and early Saturdays, our motivation and our passion. For the next 2 matches, we sincerely and really hope to bring glory to the school, and to also gain something for ourselves. We will fight as we always have, and we will work harder.

It might be too much to say this but somehow I feel that:

If I didn't play volleyball, I guess I wouldn't have felt like I lived.
